I booked a trip with Cpt. Mark Rose in the Everglades for freshwater bass fishing. It was cold the night before, and after it warmed up another cold front came in, making the day potentially very slow for fishing. All the other boats we passed confirmed this, having caught only a few fish or none at all. Despite this, Cpt. Rose demonstrated skillful knowledge of both the fish‘ behavior specific to that area as well as fishing technique. In contrast to the other fishermen we passed, we caught a variety of species; including the peacock bass we had hoped to catch when we booked the trip. We caught several large (>3 lb.) largemouth as well, and got to enjoy the scenery and wildlife of the Everglades, including close up but perfectly safe encounters with alligators. His boat was incredibly clean, and one of the best bass fishing boats I’ve ever been on. He was accommodating, but remember: it’s up to you to listen to what the captain says if you hope to catch any fish. I feel my fishing ability significantly increased by thinking through just a few tips he gave while we were out. If I book again, I’m going to be sure to ask for Cpt. Rose.”

Capt John reached out to me the day before and shared that Lake Kenansville would probably be more successful this time of year. He was right! Capt John provided everything including the boat, tackle and bait (both artificial and shiners). We lost track of the number of Bass we caught after 30. It was insane! Even better, these were all quality tournament caliber Bass. No real monsters. The big bass for the day was probably 4 1/2 lbs. but we were in water all day that very easily could have produced a 10+. The fishing was so successful that when my time limit came up (6 hours), Capt John offered to keep fishing. Mike was straightforward with us, telling us that we would be better off fishing the canas in the Everglades instead. We took his word for it and I’m so glad we did. Having two boys (ages 14 and 16), we hoped to stay active despite the unseasonably cool weather that we had experienced a few days prior in FL. Wayne was great in getting us set up and fishing right away and we were busy! My boys have experience in fishing and Wayne was great in coaching them up on technique in an encouraging way. The second charter was in the Miami area with Captain Wayne as we were fishing for peacock bass. The cooler weather unfortunately did hinder our success but that was not unexpected. Captain Wayne guided us to a few spots where we could find the best success and while we didn't pull in as many as we would have liked, my boys did enjoy landing their first peacock bass and have great memories. We would definitely return again with Wayne and try our luck again in some other great spots.”

Brent Nelson put us on fish. We booked a 6 hour trip on Lake Toho with Capt. Brent. We boated 24 bass, plus some pike and gar. Shiners were the bait of choice, but we gave soft plastics a shot. Each of us caught at least one bass over 4 lbs, one of us caught one about 5 lbs and all of us caught at least 6-8 bass and several channel catfish. We caught fish nearly non-stop and really didn’t have time to eat lunch. Fishing with Dave was like fishing with a family friend, he was comfortable to fish with, funny and he really put us on the fish. Any time I’m bass fishing near Okeechobee Dave Lauer is the only guy I’ll go with. He’s a confident pro and knows bass. All of us said his was our best day of fishing- ever. He went way beyond for us. Recent hurricanes fell a lot of trees in the canals we were fishing in yet that did not deter Captain Miley. On the morning of my trip it was only 41* even a bit chilly of this Minnesotan. I fished with Capt Mark Rogers. He was everything one could ask for. On time, very friendly, his boat and gear were in perfect working condition and he put me on fish. We fished with live shiners something I have never done before. This also was my first time in Florida and a first for the BigO. Mark put me on fish right away. I caught a lot of bass and I also caught a 5 lb. catfish. My biggest bass was a nice 5+ not what I was looking for but two of the fish I lost bringing them to the boat were exactly what I was looking for. Mark did everything in his power to try and get the monster I was looking for. I had a wonderful time Mark was very knowledgeable about the lake and the surrounding area. I didn't know they burned the cane fields before they harvested. I would recommend Capt Mark Rogers for your fishing adventure. I will sure ask for him on future adventures.”

My brother and I spent two days with Captain Dave Lauer on Lake Okeechobee and we had the best time! Dave provided everything we needed, was easy to talk to and we had two days of great fishing and laughs. We caught hundreds of fish over the span of two days including a couple of six pounders. Dave was very patient with us as we re-learned how to fish with shiners after fishing artificial for so many years. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and my brother, so I'm not sure if we'd go back to sish Okeechobee, but if we do, it will surely be with Captain Dave. Thanks Dave!!!!”

My husband booked a 2-day fishing trip with Capt Ken Walker on Rodman Reservoir Feb 16-17. Even before the trip, Ken was responsive to all of my husband's inquiries and went out of his way to make sure we were kept updated on catches from his prior trips that week due to concerns about possible weather effects on the fishing. During the trip on the first day, Ken predicted that we would catch our first fish at 9am. My husband caught our first fish at 9:01! This was the first and only fish that was caught on an artificial lure, and it was not a big one, but it was funny that it was caught at the time Ken predicted. Not long after, we started fishing with live golden shiners. After Ken gave us a thorough and detailed tutorial on the art of fishing with shiners, we headed to the first spot proven to produce the type of trophy bass that earned Rodman Reservoir the ranking of #8 in the 2016 list of top 100 Bass lakes in the US as ranked by Bassmaster Magazine! Well, after a few opportunities to practice the technique and a couple of small bass we managed to land, Ken took us to the spot where both my husband and I were able to catch our personal best LMB ever! Mine was an 8.75 lb lunker, and hubby caught an 8.68 lb bass with the very last shiner! In addition to putting us on some solid fish, and the occasional Bowfin/Mudfish that tried to get in on the shiner action, Ken was constantly sharing freely of his tips and techniques in catching bass. He also showed me how I could improve my casting distance which made a big difference! He continually handled all of the tasks of keeping us rigged up with hooks, shiners, and fluorescent corks (hot pink for me) as we got broke off when the shiners got hung up in the matted vegetation the bass hid under to ambush their prey. I went through Ken's stock of pink corks! Bottom line: Ken gave us an EPIC day of fishing, despite very cold weather conditions for most of the day. We each caught some solid fish besides our PB fish. Ken was knowledgeable, informative, and knows the fishery intimately. Book him for your next guided fishing trip - you'll be glad you did!”

All gear was provided, and travel time to/from our meeting place (BJ's Bait shop) was NOT included in our fishing time - we got four full hours on the water. Saw lots of alligators and herons, as well as a gazillion gar who were totally uninterested in our bait. Caught and released many bass - they put up a good fight! Tim was quiet but personable, and extremely knowledgeable about the area - in short, the perfect guide. My dad and myself had an opportunity to fish with Capt. Brett from bassonline on April 3rd and 4th! The fishing was good the first day but we weren't lucky enough to catch any trophy fish! On day 2 the weather had taken a turn and it was getting nasty pretty fast. We were lucky enough to boat a really nice 8lb 10oz bass and many more smaller fish. Missed a few fish that could have been real nice as well! Capt Brett couldn't have been any nicer or more accommodating if he tried! He had us change our meeting place to better find the fish we were hoping to find. He did a great job finding the best spots for some great fishing! We got lucky and the weather held off for our 6 hour trip then completely let loose that afternoon. Hopefully Capt Brett and a client didn't have an afternoon trip planned for later that day, if they did then I'm sure they got washed off the lake! I highly recommend booking a guided trip with them and asking for Brett! We will definitely be booking with him again! Great guide, very professional, and a lot of fun to fish with!”
